Through the imaginative use of the Internet and other interactive technologies, The World Dharma Online Institute (WDOI), was in 2006 conceived to offer creative, non sectarian courses and services for the purpose of evolving a global culture of conscience — a peacefully co-existing compassionate world citizenship, rooted in dignity, universal human rights, and environmental sanity.

Purpose.
At the heart of the World Dharma Online Institute is our aspiration to empower individuals to find the courage to care, to give back to life, and so change the world, and ourselves, one person, one moment, at a time.

At the root of the World Dharma vision is the Sanskrit word Dharma, reputedly the oldest word in use describing consciousness in relation to freedom. By combining the words World and Dharma, the umbrella concept “World Dharma” was formed.
The core World Dharma vision honours the inseparable interrelatedness of all things, all dimensions of consciousness with the material world in and around us. From this central realization, World Dharma consciousness emphasizes liberating all relationships from fear, aggression, and ignorance, while enhancing creativity, compassion, and conscientious co-existence.

Essence.
As Hip Hop, Techno, Rock, and Classical are well-known musical genres, so too is World Music —a genre that emerges when two or more different cultural traditions creatively jam, or make music together - thus, creating synergy and a new musical expression that transcends the respective genres and musicians creating it.
In a similar way, World Dharma finds expression when two or more individuals come together with their inherent and unique differences—different world views, truths, beliefs, religions, philosophies, psychologies, understandings of how it all fits together— and yet they jam together, so to speak; openly interrelating, communicating, co-creating new words, new ideas, a new language of liberation, a new form of freedom, an original expression of their own unique World Dharma. An original moment of “inter-beingness” that has never been done before. Thus, we can say that the living essence of World Dharma is originality—the wild daring life of the heart expressing its truth with fearless authenticity.

Institute (WDOI) - offer the monthly multi-media Presentations that stand at the core
of the World Dharma Program, Everyday Revolution. Over the coming months it is
our intention is to expand the Program in a number of ways. Such as inviting a range
of Special Guest Presenters to share their visions and interact with us in the Forums.
We intend to launch World Dharma TV - a special video series providing a range of
functions, including a venue for participants to present their art, poetry, performances
as well as a source for edgy video clips brought to us to those searching for cool art.
In addition, we intend to initiate a number of innovative community and research
features. And at some point in the not too distant future we want to establish both a
World Dharma Teacher Training Program and a World Dharma Retreat Center
that includes a school, meditation cottages, artist studios, addiction-healing center,
and a modern avant garde community that respects the value of not-going it alone.
